Junior Librarian


About the Job
Supporting the delivery of high-quality library services and enriching the community’s learning experience through accessible, engaging, and inclusive programs. This includes assisting library users, supporting daily library operations, contributing to cultural and educational initiatives, and collaborating with colleagues and community partners to promote reading, lifelong learning, and cultural engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Contribute to assessing community needs and implementing initiatives.
Continuously develop library services by proposing innovative solutions, designing creative spaces, and preparing exhibitions.
Build and maintain positive professional relationships with patrons, educational partners, and community stakeholders.
Support the design and delivery of cultural, educational, and recreational programs tailored to all age groups (children, youth, and adults).
Assist library patrons with check-in, check-out, and locating materials within the library.
Shelve library materials accurately and maintain updated user records in the management system.
Answer reference inquiries and guide users on how to use library digital tools and catalogs.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in library and Information Science Management, Humanities, Social Sciences, or a related field.

0–2 years of experience in libraries, education, Social Work, or a related field.
Required Skills & Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused mindset and willingness to assist users.
Basic knowledge of library resources, cataloging principles, and daily library operations.
Good organizational and coordination skills.
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills for engaging with diverse demographics, from children to seniors.
Good knowledge of the local cultural scene, cultural institutions, and the publishing community.
Preferred Attributes
A genuine passion for reading, culture, and lifelong learning, with a proactive, adaptable, and innovative mindset.
Basic familiarity with visual design tools (e.g., Canva) and previous involvement in cultural initiatives, reading clubs, or community volunteer work.
Working Conditions
This position operates on rotating shifts, with working hours and weekly days off assigned based on a weekly work schedule.
