Audio & Video Media Assistant Specialist


About the Job
The incumbent plays a key role in the comprehensive setup, rigorous testing, adept operation, thorough assessment, and proficient repair of sound and video equipment essential for a variety of live or pre-recorded events. These events range from meetings, video conferences, Lectures, Discussion Panels, Movies Showing, etc. The role involves hands-on operation of a wide array of audio and visual tools, including but not limited to Audio mixers, microphones, audio speakers, video screens, projectors, video recorders, Tv Cameras and other recording devices. Additionally, the officer will manage video monitors, sound and mixing boards, and tailor custom lighting systems to suit the specific requirements of each event.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment operation: Set up, operate, and test a wide range of AV equipment like projectors, screens, microphones, cameras, and sound and mixing boards.
Event support: Provide technical support and live operation for diverse event formats, conferences, and video meetings to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues with audio, video, and lighting systems as they arise.
Maintenance and inventory: Manage and maintain AV equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and properly inventoried and ensuring availability and readiness for all events. This may include requesting new purchases and performing regular checks.
Technical preparation: Prepare venues and equipment for events, including site assessments and final technical checks.
Content production: Depending on the role, this can include video capture, editing, and distribution, as well as preparing materials like teleprompters.
Collaboration: Work with other teams (IT, communications, etc..) and clients to plan and execute technical needs for multimedia initiatives and contributing to the planning and executing event-specific technical and production needs
Installs and operates audiovisual equipment, adeptly handling setup requirements.
Perform site assessments and technical preparations, ensuring venues meet all necessary specifications.
Works with technical crews during events, overseeing project execution and troubleshooting any equipment issues.
Engages with external stakeholders, including exhibitors, vendors, and sponsors, to align event details with technical capabilities.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree or technical certification in media production, multimedia studies, or a related field, plus a minimum of 1–2 years of relevant experience, is often required.
Technical Proficiency: Expertise with audio equipment, video cameras, lighting systems, and professional editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro).
Problem-solving: The ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical problems under pressure.
Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups, from technical crews to clients, and to explain technical issues clearly.
Organization: Meticulous attention to detail is needed for equipment setup, maintenance, and inventory management.
